How to Insert Your karlee Menstrual Disc

Switching to a menstrual disc like karlee is a great choice for comfort, capacity, and convenience. Follow these simple steps to insert it safely and correctly.

Step 1: Wash Your Hands

Before touching your disc or your body, wash your hands thoroughly with soap and warm water. Hygiene is key to preventing infection or irritation.

Step 2: Choose Your Position

Find a position that makes insertion easier:

Relax your muscles and take a few deep breaths. Tension can make insertion more difficult.

Step 3: Fold the Disc

Hold your karlee disc with the loop tab facing down (toward the floor). Then pinch the rim in the centre to form a long, narrow oval or figure-8 shape. This makes it easier to insert.

Tip: You can apply a water-based lubricant to the rim for smoother insertion.

Step 4: Insert on a Downward Angle

Gently push the folded disc into your vaginal canal. Angle it back and down toward your tailbone, not straight up. Slide it in as far as it will comfortably go.

Step 5: Tuck It Behind the Pubic Bone

Once the rim is fully inside, use your finger to guide the front edge of the disc up and tuck it behind your pubic bone. This helps the disc stay in place and prevents leaks.

The back edge should sit higher in the vaginal canal, forming a gentle horizontal tilt.

Step 6: Check for Fit

You shouldn’t feel the disc if it's inserted correctly. If it feels uncomfortable, it might not be tucked fully behind your pubic bone. You can remove it, rinse it, and try again.

Extra Tips

When in Doubt, Take It Slow

Like anything new, using a disc may take a couple of cycles to feel completely confident. That’s normal. Be patient with yourself and don’t be afraid to try a few times to get the hang of it.
